International Summer School Held as...
From 6 to 10 May 2025, the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković”, hosted an international summer school as part of the EU-funded project FORTIC – From remains Of the war to the aRchiTecture of peace in cross-border area of Italy-Croatia. The programme brought together 40 students and 4 professors from the University of Pula (UNIPU) and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) with the aim of fostering cross-border collaboration, interdisciplinary learning, and joint work focused on cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, and the adaptive reuse of fortifications. The summer school was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Students, Educational Programs and Cooperation at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, Assoc. Prof. Ksenija Černe, Ph.D., and the Vice-Dean for International Affairs and Business Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dean Sinković, Ph.D., MBA, who welcomed the students and professors and wished them a successful week.

Dr Milford Bateman, Visiting Professor from Federal Fluminese University in Rio de Jainero (Brasil), Adjunct Professor of Development Studies at St Mary’s University in Halifax (Canada) and Affiliated Researcher at the Future Forum in Phnom Penh (Cambodia), will hold lecture on “The rise of financial inclusion: cui bono?” on Friday, March 6th at 10 a.m. in the lecture room number 202 at the Faculty of Economics and Tourism , where he will discuss issues of financialization of the poor and low income families across the world. More specifically, he will talk about the rise and fall of microcredit, the turn to financial inclusion, the spectacular rise of fintech industry as well as the scandal of the Nobel economics people with their fake evaluations.     ×

The conference with the central theme “Tourism, Innovations and Entrepreneurship” (TIE 2019) organized by the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković” will be held from 26 to 28 September 2019 in the luxurious island resort  Valamar Collection Isabella Island Resort 4*/5*  in Poreč (Istria, Croatia, European Union). The focus of the conference will be on tourism, innovations, entrepreneurshipand on other relevant economic themes. The deadline for the submission of Abstracts is 1 st  September 2019.

Eisenstadt, 14 May 2019 – The UAS  Burgenland cooperates with six international partner universities within the framework of two unique doctoral programmes. "About five years ago, we were pioneers in the organisation of cooperative, cross-border and international doctoral programmes," explains programme director Irena Zavrl. On 11 May, the first four alumni graduated in the festive atmosphere of Schloss Esterházy in Eisenstadt, Austria. Among the most prominent guests were the rectors and vice-rectors of the partner universities:  University of Bratislava (Slovak Republic), University of Pula (Croatia), University of Sopron (Hungary), University  North(Croatia), University of Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and University of Life Sciences Prague (Czech Republic). The academic oath was given by the rector of the University of Sopron, Prof. Dr. Sc. András Náhlik. The UAS Burgenland also awarded two honorary professorships during the event.

Knowing the rules of negotiating in the modern free market economy is one of the most important and particularly desirable skills. Thanks to the knowledge of the negotiation strategies and techniques, we can gain a lot, and most importantly - negotiations can be learned. In virtue of that cognition, Dr. Joanna Radowicz (from the Faculty of Management and Computer Modelling, Kielce University of Technology in Poland) held three lectures about the Art of Negotiations.  Alongside with the Stages of Negotiations, Strategies in Negotiations and Techniques in Negotiations, Prof. Radowicz provided FET’s students and Erasmus+ students with many information about the importance of negotiations in the free market world and democratic countries.

From 11th to 14th of September the Faculty of Economics and Tourism "Dr. Mijo Mirković" (FET) of Juraj Dobrila University of Pula hosted the International Scientific Conference „The State of Capitalism and the State of Political Economy“ - one of the biggest 2018 conference in Croatia and beyond.

Two thousand years old Roman amphitheatre in Pula last Friday became the central place for almost 300 students and their guests. It is the first time that Roman battleground become a place where University of Pula graduates received their diplomas. It was spectacular to see thousands of people watching graduates who proudly take a certificate which officially approve they are “academic gladiators”.

Faculty of Economics and Tourism "Dr. Mijo Mirković" will host the International Scientific Conference "The State of Capitalism and the State of Political Economy" organized by the International Initiative for Promoting Political Economy (IIPPE).  The Conference will take place in Pula, Croatia, from 12 th to 14 th September 2018. The central part of the Conference will focus on the state of capitalism and political economy. The intention is to stimulate interest in political economy, interdisciplinarity, history of political and economic thought, critique of mainstream politics and economics, and/or their application to policy analysis and activism.

Project ATLAS – Adriatic Cultural Tourism Laboratories, after being approved within Standard+ Call for Proposals by Interreg V-A Italy-Croatia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020, started off in January 2018. with Friuli Innovazione from Udine as the Lead Partner ant the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković” of Juraj Dobrila University of Pula as one of the seven project partners. ATLAS strives at leveraging and deployment of digital technologies in cultural tourism with the aim of promotion of natural and cultural heritage, as well as facilitating inclusion and accessibility for all the involved stakeholders. Through the innovative ICT tools the transnational cooperation in cultural tourism destination management will be stimulated, enabling a creative marketing ecosystem whose integrated offer enhances/empowers development and sustainability of local economies and provides new models of touristic experience.
