The undergraduate Applied Economics study program provides students with fundamental knowledge in the field of general economics, complemented through elective courses by specific areas from other study programs.
Have you heard of concepts such as economic crises, public policy measures, unemployment, poverty, and sustainable development? By completing the Applied Economics study program, you will be equipped to think analytically and propose specific solutions to today’s complex economic problems in Croatia and around the world, participate on an equal footing in discussions with economic experts, and engage in the work of various national and international institutions.
How do you become an economic expert? By developing your knowledge and skills through the Applied Economics study program, led by a young team of researchers, professors, and teaching assistants dedicated to the continuous improvement of the teaching process.

The curriculum is continuously enriched with the latest insights from economic theory and analysis, all delivered in modern, well-equipped classrooms. Students actively participate in the analysis of different case studies and have the opportunity to broaden their knowledge through field classes or international exchange at reputable universities offering complementary programs. A significant advantage of the Economics program is working in smaller groups, where lecturers can actively cooperate with students, thereby enabling the successful implementation of a training program for economic experts who will be able to adapt successfully to the diverse needs of the labor market.
After completing the three-year undergraduate program, students obtain the academic title Baccalaureus/Baccalaurea – University Bachelor of Economics (univ. bacc. oec.), and may further build on their knowledge by continuing their studies in the graduate program of their chosen field. The graduate program in Applied Economics may be enrolled in by students who have completed undergraduate studies in Economics or Applied Economics, as well as by students who have completed one of the Faculty’s other study programs or programs at other higher education institutions and who wish to further specialize in more advanced economic analysis and deepen their understanding of economic reality. Upon completion of the two-year graduate program, students obtain the academic title Master of Economics (univ. mag. oec.).
Economics experts and analysts have a wide range of potential career opportunities available to them — from positions in public administration institutions, institutes, scientific research centers, and universities, to roles in large companies, as well as jobs created through innovative ideas for self-employment.
“The study of economics does not seem to require any specialized gifts of an unusually high order... Yet good, or even competent, economists are the rarest of birds.... An easy subject at which very few excel!”
John Maynard Keynes
