Global tourism trends impose a new way of understanding tourism. People participating in tourism flows today are increasingly experienced and express a growing number of needs, not only within the destination itself but also during the journey to the destination. The global tourism market has never been more dynamic and demanding, and day by day it requires a growing number of educated professionals in the field of tourism.
The Tourism study program is designed in a way that successfully responds to the contemporary demands of the tourism market. The program is based on a student–professor partnership aimed at improving the acquisition of both theoretical knowledge and its application in the real business world.
This partnership between student and professor is also evident in the teaching process itself, since during their studies students attend both compulsory tourism courses and courses they choose according to their personal interests. The program is delivered at two levels: as the undergraduate Tourism program lasting three years (academic title Baccalaureus/Baccalaurea – University Bachelor of Economics, univ. bacc. oec.), and as the graduate Tourism and Development program lasting two years (academic title Master of Economics, univ. mag. oec.).
The Tourism and Tourism and Development study programs are delivered in a fully modern and dynamic way, enabling students, through the teaching process, to become familiar with and actively engage in real business processes in the field of tourism. Teaching is delivered in the form of lectures, seminars, and practical exercises. This concept of the teaching process is based on teamwork and an individual approach to each student, making it easier to acquire theoretical knowledge and apply it in the real business world. Classes are held in modern, well-equipped classrooms and offices with the support of the latest technology, and are conducted in small groups, allowing the development of each student’s personal areas of interest.
The programs are aligned with similar programs offered at universities throughout Europe and are recognized by universities within the Bologna Process system. As a result, students have the opportunity to complete part of their studies at a European university, since the program is fully recognized.
After completing the Tourism and Tourism and Development study programs, students are offered opportunities for employment in a wide range of attractive positions, not only in Croatia but also in companies around the world, and are qualified to work independently in both the public and private sectors, as well as in many other jobs requiring competences in tourism and economics.
