Second-year graduate students in Management and Entrepreneurship, as part of the International Entrepreneurship course, are taking part in a valuable international project in collaboration with students from the Faculty of Logistics of the University of Maribor, working on the development of concrete business solutions for the global company Hisense.
The project focuses on solving a real business challenge presented to the students by Luka Herman, Head of Quality Logistic Services at Hisense Europe, thereby directly linking theoretical knowledge with the practice of one of the world’s leading industrial companies. The project began through online classes at both faculties, and the students were organized into three international teams, which further encourages the development of intercultural competencies, teamwork, and strategic thinking in a global environment.
The highlight of the cooperation so far was the in-person meeting held on 15 December at the Faculty of Logistics in Celje, attended by Luka Herman and Ana Führer Habjan, HR Business Partner at Hisense. During the meeting, students from Croatia and Slovenia had the opportunity to communicate directly with company representatives, ask questions, and gain valuable insights that are essential for shaping high-quality final solutions. A dynamic and inspiring discussion developed with company experts from a firm that has for years ranked among the very top of the global consumer electronics industry, holding second place among the world’s largest television manufacturers.
Hisense, a global technology leader headquartered in China, operates in around one hundred countries worldwide, with a particularly significant presence in Europe. After acquiring the Slovenian company Gorenje in 2018, Hisense further strengthened its European production and development potential. Today, televisions, dishwashers, and refrigerators are successfully manufactured in Velenje, while the company also operates production facilities and logistics centers across Europe.
This kind of international student collaboration represents exceptional value for all parties involved. It enables students to learn outside the traditional classroom, work on real business challenges, develop professional and communication skills, and gain experience working in an international and interdisciplinary environment. At the same time, cooperation between faculties and global companies such as Hisense confirms the importance of connecting academia and industry and prepares students for successful careers in the globalized business world.
