Representatives of the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković” visited the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism in Poreč. The purpose of this visit was to identify possibilities for future cooperation between the two institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on cooperation through scientific research projects, especially in the field of sustainability in tourism, as well as on strengthening cooperation in teaching activities through the inclusion of students in professional internships at the Institute and other forms of collaboration.

The Institute of Agriculture and Tourism in Poreč was represented by Director Dean Ban, PhD, Kristina Brščić, PhD, Assistant Director for Economic Affairs, and Ana Težak Damijanić, PhD, from the Department of Agricultural Economics and Development. The Faculty was represented by Dean Associate Professor Ticijan Peruško, PhD, Vice Dean Assistant Professor Roberta Kontošić Pamić, PhD, also representative of the Department of Entrepreneurship, Associate Professor Tamara Floričić, PhD, representative of the Department of Tourism with extensive experience in scientific research projects, and Sara Maga, Master of Economics, from the Department of Marketing.

During the visit, representatives of the Institute introduced the Faculty representatives to the Institute’s work and activities and guided them through the laboratories of the Department of Agriculture and Food, where they had the opportunity to meet the Institute’s staff and become more closely acquainted with their research work.

On that occasion, the Director of the Institute expressed satisfaction with the beginning of cooperation with an institution from the same regional environment:
“We are pleased to be connecting with an institution close to us in the Istrian region, and we hope for successful cooperation. We are especially pleased by the opportunity for students to undertake professional internships at the Institute and to become more familiar with our work.”

The Dean of the Faculty emphasized the importance of connecting institutions through projects and educational activities:
“The aim of this visit is to strengthen our mutual cooperation in projects, but also in teaching processes, so that through joint activities we can further connect our institutions and create new synergy. What we saw today—the wide range of knowledge and opportunities that the Institute is developing—gives us confidence that this cooperation will be successful.”

We thank our hosts for their warm hospitality and look forward to future cooperation and joint projects.

Photographs from the visit, as well as statements by the Director of the Institute and the Dean of the Faculty, are available below.
