In Brijuni National Park, on 15–16 September 2025, the FORTIC International Scientific Conference 2025 – “Fortified Architecture for the Culture of Peace” was held. The conference was organized by the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković”, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, within the framework of the FORTIC project – From remains Of the war to the aRchiTecture of peace in the cross-border area of Italy-Croatia, co-financed through the Interreg Italy–Croatia 2021–2027 programme. The conference brought together more than 100 participants, researchers, experts, and representatives of institutions from Croatia, Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and other European countries. Special emphasis was placed on interdisciplinary cooperation and knowledge exchange in the valorisation and sustainable revitalisation of fortified heritage.

The Juraj Dobrila University of Pula in cooperation with the  FORTIC partnership consortium  and international expert networks is organizing the international scientific conference FORTIFIED ARCHITECTURE FOR THE CULTURE OF PEACE – EUROPEAN BEST PRACTICE IN FORTIFIED HERITAGE MANAGEMENT, which will be held in NP Brijuni on 15 and 16 September 2025.  The Organizing Committee is delighted to announce distinguished plenary speakers: Prof. Maria Gravari-Barbas, Paris1 - Sorbonne University; Prof.  Donatella Rita Fiorino, University of Cagliari and  John Harris, Fortress Study Group, UK. From 6 to 10 May 2025, the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics and Tourism “Dr. Mijo Mirković”, hosted an international summer school as part of the EU-funded project FORTIC – From remains Of the war to the aRchiTecture of peace in cross-border area of Italy-Croatia. The programme brought together 40 students and 4 professors from the University of Pula (UNIPU) and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice (UNIVE) with the aim of fostering cross-border collaboration, interdisciplinary learning, and joint work focused on cultural heritage, sustainable tourism, and the adaptive reuse of fortifications. The summer school was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Students, Educational Programs and Cooperation at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, Assoc. Prof. Ksenija Černe, Ph.D., and the Vice-Dean for International Affairs and Business Relations at the Faculty of Economics and Tourism, Assoc. Prof. Dean Sinković, Ph.D., MBA, who welcomed the students and professors and wished them a successful week.
