The event is being held as part of the project FORTIC - From remains Of the war to the aRchiTecture of peace in cross-border area of Italy-Croatia, which aims to strengthen the role of Adriatic cross-border cultural heritage by recognizing and valorizing European best practice in fortified heritage management. FORTIC Project is part of the EU's Interreg Italy – Croatia 2021-2027 Programme, which prioritizes culture and sustainable tourism as drivers of economic growth, social inclusion, and innovation.
Project FORTIC addresses common challenges across Adriatic cross-border territories, focusing on enhancing sustainable tourism through innovative social models and digital solutions. Key challenges include seasonal dependency of tourism activities, the lack of digital tools for developing joint sustainable tourism products and the need for green and digital technologies in cultural heritage preservation. The project aims to strengthen the role of cultural heritage, particularly fortifications, in promoting sustainable tourism. By achieving these objectives, FORTIC seeks to establish strategic and sustainable tourism management practices across the Adriatic region, emphasising natural heritage conservation and reducing territorial vulnerability.
